Terms of service
1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of https://sterlinghome.com (the "Site") and any purchase you make from Sterling Home ("we", "us", "our"). By accessing the Site or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
⚠️ Business details to insert: Sterling Home is a trading name of [registered company name], a company registered in [England and Wales] under company number [number], with its registered office at [UK registered address]. VAT number [if registered].
2. Eligibility
To place an order you must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding contract. By ordering, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
3. Products
We take care to describe and display our products accurately. However, mirror glass and frame finishes may vary slightly, and colours may appear differently depending on your screen. Slight variations do not constitute a fault. All products are subject to availability, and we may withdraw or amend any product listing at any time.
4. Orders and Contract Formation
When you place an order you will receive an order confirmation email acknowledging that we have received it. This acknowledgement does not mean your order has been accepted. A binding contract is only formed when we send you a dispatch confirmation. We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order — for example, where a product is unavailable, where there is an error in the price or description, or where we are unable to obtain payment.
5. Pricing and Payment
All prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where applicable, unless stated otherwise. Delivery charges are shown separately at checkout. We make every effort to ensure prices are correct, but if we discover an error in the price of goods you have ordered, we will contact you to confirm whether you wish to proceed at the correct price or cancel. Payment must be made in full at the time of ordering via the payment methods offered at checkout.
6. Delivery
Delivery timescales, methods, and charges are set out in our Shipping Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Please inspect your order on arrival and report any damage or missing items in line with our Shipping and Returns policies.
7. Cancellations and Returns
If you are a consumer, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the goods under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, subject to the conditions set out in our Returns Policy. This right does not apply to custom or made-to-measure mirrors, which are produced to your specification. Full details of how to return an item and how refunds are handled are set out in our Returns Policy.
8. Custom Mirrors
Custom mirrors are cut and produced to your specifications as agreed at the point of order. Because they are bespoke, they are exempt from the standard 14-day cancellation right and cannot be refunded or exchanged for change of mind. It is your responsibility to confirm all measurements, frame colours, and materials before your order is produced.
9. Your Statutory Rights and Our Warranty
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. Our 3-year limited warranty, set out in our Warranty Policy, is provided in addition to and does not affect these statutory rights.
10. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Subject to that, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, and our total liability to you in respect of any order will not exceed the price paid for that order. We are not responsible for damage arising from improper installation, handling, or transport of a mirror after delivery.
11. Installation and Safe Use
Our mirrors are heavy and fragile. Where a mirror is to be mounted or hung, we strongly recommend installation by a suitably qualified person. We accept no liability for injury, damage, or loss arising from improper installation or handling once the goods have been delivered.
12. Intellectual Property
All content on the Site — including text, images, logos, graphics, and design — is owned by or licensed to Sterling Home and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content without our prior written permission.
13. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Site for any unlawful purpose, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems, or to interfere with the Site's operation. We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access where these Terms are breached.
14. Privacy
Your personal data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one in effect at the time you place it. We recommend reviewing these Terms periodically.
16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. ⚠️ Adjust if your company is registered in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
